We were accompanied by Simone, an excellent guide and excellent connoisseur of the palace and gallery. We were lucky enough to do the tour on our own, which allowed us to fully enjoy the experience. Recommended.

Collecting our tickets was really easy and looking at the queue when we got there we were really happy we had pre ordered. We didn't wait too long to get in. Only downside was at this time of year quite a few of the exhibitions were closed and only 4 toilets for all visitors, the ladies q was long!

Access was possible without any problems or waiting time. The Uffizi is also worth a second trip! The most relaxing part, however, were the gardens... with a wonderful view of the city.

Palazzo Pitti: Florentine court of three dynasties

The Palazzo Pitti, originally built in 1458 for Florentine industrialist Lucca Pitti, exemplifies Renaissance architecture with its robust framework, high arches, and rusticated stone features. Acquired by Eleonora di Toledo, wife of Cosimo I de Medici, it transformed into Florence's largest museum, featuring various galleries and the stunning Boboli Gardens. Find curated tickets, tours, and essential information for your visit.

Things to know before buying Pitti Palace tickets

  • Palazzo Pitti stands as a quintessential Florentine landmark, drawing millions of visitors from across the globe. Long lines are a common sight, especially during peak seasons when they can stretch beyond an hour. Booking tickets online in advance can save you hours of hassle and ensure a smoother visit.

  • The palace holds a rich history - the evolution of the Renaissance, power struggles among three major Florentine dynasties, and even serving as headquarters during World War II. A guided tour is highly recommended for those seeking deeper insight into this intriguing monument.

  • Your Palazzo Pitti ticket grants access to the entire complex, including the Palatine Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, Museum of Costume and Fashion, Treasury of the Grand Dukes, Museum of Russian Icons, and the Palatine Chapel. So you can enjoy a seamless visit without worrying about any hidden charges once inside.

  • The Palace backyard - Boboli Gardens are a major crowd puller on their own, owing to their beautiful landscape, views of Florence—especially the direct view of the majestic Duomo Florence— intricate sculptures, grottos, and historic fountains. It's no surprise that the combos with both the palace and gardens are the most popular experiences. With our curated bundled tickets, you can enjoy the convenience and obvious value for money.

  • Like many other Florence museums, Palazzo Pitti offers free entry on Sundays under the #DomenicalMuseo initiative. However, it comes with large crowds and long lines on these days, so plan accordingly. Priority access or reserved entry is not available on free days, except for pregnant women and people with disabilities.

  • The museum is fully accessible for wheelchair users, with lifts providing access to different floors. Entrance from Pitti Square features a 20% slope, but other than that it's a pretty effortless exploration.

  • Free entry is available for children under 18, persons with disabilities, scholars, students, teachers, tour guides, interpreters, journalists, ministry employees, ICOM members, and pregnant women. Don't forget to carry a valid ID for verification at the entrance.
